HIST 243 - Modern Central Asia3 cr. This course will examine the history of Central Asia in the 19th and 20th Centuries. Located between the Russian, Chinese, and British Empires, and later as a part of the Soviet Union or one of its neighbors, this part of the world was at the center of global superpower competition. We will examine in detail the histories of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Siberia.
