HIST 379 - (CH,D) The United States and China: From the Eighteenth Century to the Present3 cr. An upper-level course to examine US-China relations from their first encounter in the eighteenth century to the present, the underlying dynamics, patterns and trends, and perceptions and/or misconceptions in the relationship. In addition to traditional focus on diplomatic, political, military, and economic relations, the course will explore other equally important but neglected aspects such as cultural, social, and psychological interactions as well as individuals who shaped the contours of the bilateral relationship.
