CHS 342 - Foundations of Rehabilitation3 cr. Students will develop sensitivity, appreciation and understanding of what it means to have a disability. Topics covered will include federal, state and community mandates, independent-living concepts, and the basic principles of rehabilitation. A comprehensive review of the variety of rehabilitation programs is provided. Ethical decision-making will be integrated into the course and students will learn to practice with cultural sensitivity. Site visits to rehabilitation agencies and applied experiences will be conducted.
