HIST 350 - (CH) American Environmental History3 cr. Assuming a basic knowledge of U.S. History, the goal of this course is to expose students to the dialogue between humanity and nature in which cultural and environmental systems powerfully interact, shaping and influencing each other, without either side wholly determining the outcome. Topics that will be examined include Native American Ecology, the impact of European Colonization, the rise of the Market Economy, Westward Expansion, the rise of Twentieth-Century Industry, and the emergence of Ecology, and Globalization.
