ARTH 313 - (D, W) Art of Islam3 cr.
(Prerequisite: None, but previous course in art history desirable)
A survey of Islamic art and architecture from Mongol invasion to the beginnings of European colonization by the West (13-19th centuries). Politics, patronage, religion and literature will provide a rich context for the interpretation of Islamic art, as will a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
