This program is awaiting approval from Pennsylvania Department of Education. Anticipation of approval for this program is expected for the fall of 2013.
The Special Education program requires prior Pennsylvania teaching certification in another area. The program of studies outlined below is new for the 2012- 2013 academic year and reflects alignment to the new PDE competency requirements.
The new program offers two certification pathways. Students can enroll in a course of studies leading to Pre K- 8 certification or in a course of studies leading to 7- 12 certification, as noted below. Both pathways require 39 credit hours of coursework and include an internship.
All students who are pursuing a master’s degree must complete the research and foundation course requirements and pass a capstone experience/ comprehensive examination.
